Before embarking on the exercises for this part of the course I decided to carry out some practice compositions. These are my sketches for these practice works which I then went on to complete in thinned oil paint.

Practice work – Oil Paint

Oil paint thinned with Winsor & Newton Liquin ORIGINAL medium.

Boots & basket in front porch (thinned oil paint on black gessoed card – 10cm diameter)
Statue of ‘Victory’ in kitchen beside boiler flu (thinned oil paint on white gessoed thick card – 12cm x 6cm)
Boat, stern and cabin on mantlepiece (thinned oil paint on thin clear PVC, with sea and sky painted on reverse – 10cm diameter)
Guitars in back bedroom (thinned oil paint on black gessoed thick card – 25cm x 18.5cm)
China and wooden plates on kitchen dresser (thinned oil paint on white gessoed thick card – 25cm x 18.5cm)
